Subtran 75 submersible pump: a successful performance test

We have once again conducted successful performance testing of a submerged pump (Subtran 75- 1 /230), in this case one that is destined to be delivered to one of our clients in China for use in an LNG (liquefied natural gas) terminal. All our pumps are tested before delivery.

The test was conducted in late September on line 5 of our last test bench in Hall 7, one of the largest cryogenic pump test benches in the world! Indeed, this bench is capable of testing up to four pumps simultaneously. The test involved five hours of setup, three hours of cooling, two hours of testing, and twelve hours of drying.

These tests also require a substantial amount of equipment: bridge cranes for handling, appropriate equipment for working at height safely, and a testing well containing 850 L of liquid nitrogen (3 meters high and 24 inches/60 centimeters diameter) with 12”/30 cm suction pipes and 10”/25 cm discharge pipes and power supply through a 315 kW frequency converter monitored directly from the control room.

Congratulations to everyone involved, especially our highly qualified technicians specialized in electrical activities, mechanics, cryogenics, vibration, and acoustics.
